Top Chef Watch: Neighborhood Nonsense

Aah…so that’s why they casted so many contestants this season: because they planned to eliminate 2 in the first episode! Very sneaky Top Chef, very sneaky and…obnoxious. For those of you who didn’t watch, Bravo decided to eliminate contestants in the elimination challenge and the quickfire challenge, leaving 15 contestants left at the end of episode 1. Couldn’t they have started with 16 instead of getting one extra chef’s hopes up?

Introducing Top Chef: New York

It’s that time again. Did you miss our favorite show as much as we did? Well, Top Chef Season 5 begins this coming Wednesday (November 12th)! While we’re going to miss the Chicago season, we’re very excited to welcome Top Chef New York to Chew on That’s Top Chef Watch. That means we’re going to dish about every episode each Thursday right here at Chew on That. We can’t wait to get a taste of the delicious challenges the famous city of New York will serve up!

Top Chef News: Baby Blais, Cooking Classes, and Season 5!

It’s been a whole… (eep!) 5 days now…and I still can’t get over the fact that Top Chef Chicago is no more. So, in order to give myself a Top Chef fix, I thought I’d pass along some interesting tidbits you might want to check out!

1. Finalist Richard Blais had a baby girl! - Photos courtesy of Our Labor of Love (click on link for more photos). Does anyone remember the “Common Threads” episode, where Antonia started bawling when she saw all the kids? Well, in that same episode, Richard made some comment to the effect of finding it all so emotional and wanting to go home and make “Baby Blaises.” It looks like he succeeded (has it really been 9 months since they taped the episode?!)
