It’s clear that both Maxine and I love farmer’s markets. There’s something about that fresh hand-picked produce that has been locally grown, and these days buying local is more important than ever. That’s why it’s somewhat ironic that we have written about Madison’s Farmer’s Market, Seattle’s Pike Place Market and even Montreal’s Atwater Market, but we have yet to write about our own very famous market right here in Chicago: the Green City Market. And since Alice Waters named it one of the top 10 markets in the U.S., it’s about time we did.
Mine are. Because they’re from the Twisted Sister bakery on Wells Street in Chicago. And before you start with the, “Not another cupcake blog,”hear me out. There are many, many reasons why I love Twisted Sister and I’ll make it easy for you with this itemized list:
Kiki’s Bistro is a quaint, casual bistro that is highly recommended among my peers and Chicago restaurant reviews. Luckily they were a participating restaurant in Chicago’s Restaurant Week so I was able to sample some of their tasty and classically French cuisine.
I’m proud to announce that this year Chicago is having it’s very ownRestaurant Week! Finally! In fact, we actually had/have TWO restaurant weeks but it seems that one might just be more “official”.
What’s a restaurant week, you ask? For many years, New York City has had a week dedicated to fine dining at lower prices. Patrons are able to enjoy multiple course meals from a variety of restaurants, from the fancy to the famed, all at one set price across town.
And now we get to join the fun! The week is from February 22-29 and the prices are as follows: $21.95 for a three course lunch, and $31.95 for a three-course dinner. So far we have 34 restaurants participating, and most of these restaurants would ordinarily ring up to much more than that, so that’s practically a steal!
So, being the Chicago food blog that we are, we intend to report on the happenings of this exciting week to come, and eat ourselves some prix-fixed meals.
